The key to this solo exhibition of MMC Schobbe is a series of cut-out drawings, inspired by sketches which were made by Albrecht Dürer and Leonardo da Vinci. These only seemingly 3 dimensional drawings, presenting themselves as objects on a wall, enter into a relationship with the surrounding space as well as with each other. A (light)installation, especially created for this presentation will provide the necessary link with previous exhibitions.

On the artist

MMC Schobbe creates architectural spaces with flat and 3-dimensional wall objects. She plays with our perception of light, size, proportions and space, which can lead to questions about truth and reality No matter whether her objects are large or small, they all emanate a monumental property. She plays a lyrical game with seemingly stringent forms.

The pursuit of her art, she describes with a quote from the writer Gustave Flaubert:
"What seems to me the highest (and the hardest) in arts, is neither to elicit a laugh or a tear from the public, nor to get them heated up or to enrage them, but to get them to ponder, as does nature."

Schobbe sells and realises her work also in the context of her micropatronage-project. She has also answered A Question ...
